With a clever mixture of aluminium and steel, the new TT’s kerbweight is not only some 140kg shy of the iconic Mk1 of 1998 but also 50kg lighter than its steel-and-aluminium-based predecessor, despite extra equipment that boosts both safety and convenience.

Yes, it's yet another teaser... This time, Cadillac is giving us a sneak preview of its new CTS saloon that'll be shown at the Detroit Motor Show in January. This shot (with GM design boss Ed Welburn, left, and product chief Bob Lutz) proves that Cadillac is sticking with its brutishly angular design, although no other details have been announced yet.
Freeman Thomas, strategic design director at Ford, will take part in a live design panel discussion on Wednesday 7 May. The panel, hosted by Ford and the Industrial Designers Society of America, will also include CEO of industrial design firm Fuseproject Yves Béhar, and Christopher Williams, business development director at product design and company Lime Lab. Topics will how technology plays a role in design; how designers shape consumer behaviors and responses to innovative products; and how products both stand out from and fit in with the world around them.
